The St. Patrick’s decision:
Don the plastic shamrock necklace Saturday and join the raucous crowds at the bar crawls?
Or be a purist and wait until Tuesday – which is actually St. Patrick’s Day – to celebrate?
If you’re undecided, give ’em both a shot. Or a beer.
Here’s a quick look at some of the larger St. Patrick’s Day events in the area:
Saturday
- Downtown Youngstown bar crawl, noon to midnight, with 17 stops: Penguin City Brewing, DOPE Cider House, the Youngstown Flea, Windows on the Square, Casa di Canzonetta, Avalon Downtown Pizzeria, West 34, The Federal, V2 Wine Bar and Trattoria, Twisted Roots, Draught House, Downtown Circle, Imbibe Martini Bar, Ryes Craft Bar and Whiskey, Yonder, The Social and Varsity Club.
Participants are asked to register at Eventbrite or in person at Penguin City, the Draught House or Avalon to receive a bar crawl pass.
Each bar will stamp the pass. Every five stamps will equal one entry in the prize drawings. The top prizes are: first place, a pair of two-day passes to the Y-Live concerts, featuring Eric Church and Jason Aldean; second place, $750 cash; third place, individual drawings for a $50 gift certificate to one of the 17 stops; and fourth place, an overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown. The passes can be turned in at any of the 17 stops.
