WHEELING, W.Va. – Following deadly flooding two weeks ago in the Wheeling area, WesBanco announced the creation of the Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, a joint effort to help support individuals and families.

The disaster fund was created by the Community Foundation of the Ohio Valley and jumpstarted by $25,000 donations each from WesBanco and the Paisley Foundation.

The fund will support nonprofits in helping those affected by the severe flash flooding June 14 that killed nine people and damaged or destroyed homes, businesses, vehicles and infrastructure.

The new fund will provide long-term support, with 100% of the money raised going directly to response and recovery efforts in the eight-county region served by the CFOV for this and future disasters.

“WesBanco is deeply committed to the communities we serve, including in times of crisis. Wheeling is not only our headquarters but also home to many of our employees, some of whom were impacted by the recent flooding,” said Dave Klick, Upper Ohio Valley market president at WesBanco. “We’re proud to partner with the Paisley Foundation and family, as well as the CFOV, to get critical support to those who need it most. We invite other local businesses, community partners and individuals to join us in this effort – every contribution can make a difference in helping our community recover.”

The Paisley Foundation was established by Grammy award-winning country artist and West Virginia native Brad Paisley.
