NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster College has awarded $1,710,000 in merit-based scholarships to nine incoming first-year students for the 2026-27 academic year.
The awards include full-ride and full-tuition scholarships through the Fowler-Liddle Memorial Scholarship, the Joseph R. Furno Memorial Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship and the Lemmon Family Scholarship.
“When we select recipients for our top scholarships, we’re not just recognizing past success – we’re investing in future leaders,” said Lana Whitehead, vice president for enrollment management. “This group stood out for their curiosity, resilience and sense of purpose, and we’re confident they will make a lasting impact both on our campus and beyond.”
Recipients were selected through a competitive, multiphase interview process. Westminster College held Competitive Full-Tuition Scholarship Interview Days on Jan. 30, Jan. 31 and Feb. 16, inviting qualified incoming first-year students for fall 2026 to campus. Students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher were invited to participate; 261 expressed interest, and 162 were interviewed.
Among the recipients are three full-ride scholarship winners, including Bryce Roberts of Canfield, Ohio, who received the Fowler-Liddle Scholarship, and Maylanna Fenwick of West Mifflin, Pa., who received the Joseph R. Furno Memorial Scholarship. A third Furno Scholarship recipient has requested anonymity. Each full-ride award is valued at $236,000.
Two students received Presidential Scholarships, full-tuition awards valued at $167,000, and four students received Lemmon Scholarships, also full-tuition awards valued at $167,000, supporting students entering Westminster’s pre-health curriculum.
The scholarships support students pursuing academic programs in areas including pre-health, education, science and public service, aligning with workforce development needs in the region and beyond.
