NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster College introduced a virtual engagement officer designed to foster more meaningful, individualized connections across its global alumni community.

Westminster is among the first institutions of its kind to embrace this innovative approach and is only the second small liberal arts college in the nation to implement a virtual engagement officer.

Claire, named for clarity and transparency, serves as a digital extension of Westminster’s institutional advancement team and enhances the human relationships of the Westminster experience. Powered by artificial intelligence and created in partnership with Givzey, a digital fundraising and engagement company, Claire reflects the values guiding the initiative with an emphasis on openness and trust, a news release states.

Claire will share campus updates, impact stories and opportunities for involvement, helping alumni stay connected. She can also answer questions and serve as a personal resource for alumni seeking to reconnect with the college.

By expanding the college’s ability to engage in ongoing, personalized conversations, Claire allows Westminster to connect with alumni more consistently and more meaningfully, the release states.

“Relationships have always been central to Westminster,” said Nick McIntire, vice president for institutional advancement. “Claire allows us to build on that foundation in new ways, helping us listen more closely, respond more thoughtfully and engage more personally with our alumni.”

Through two-way, conversational interactions, Claire can connect with alumni at scale while maintaining an individualized approach. The VEO helps the college better understand alumni interests, experiences and aspirations, creating new opportunities for engagement, mentorship and support, the release states.

“Claire enhances our ability to be present and responsive,” McIntire said. “She allows our team to focus more time on building genuine, lasting relationships across our alumni community.”
