YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Western Reserve Transit Authority’s Give Local Small Business a Lift campaign will once again help promote and honor local small businesses, their owners and employees.
The campaign, now in its fourth year, will spotlight 12 local small businesses that exemplify the Mahoning Valley’s entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic.
“We cannot overstate how important small business is to our local and national economy,” said Dean Harris, WRTA executive director. “But starting a small business also seems to take a special sort of grit and determination that exemplifies what America is all about.”
Small businesses in Mahoning County can nominate themselves. A form, available HERE, must be completed by an owner or authorized officer/manager. The deadline for nominations is April 14.
The 12 businesses that will be featured will be chosen from the nominees by a panel of three business and community leaders. The winners will be notified and honored at a kickoff event April 30 at Lariccia Community Center in Boardman Park.
Starting May 1, the businesses will be promoted on WRTA buses, its digital sign downtown, on TV commercials and on social media.
One of the businesses will be selected by vote as the Small Business of the Year. That business will receive a free TV advertising campaign donated by WKBN-TV and a social media campaign donated by Farris Marketing/StrategiX Social.
