YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – YBI will host its inaugural EmpowerUS Awards on Thursday at Stambaugh Auditorium, celebrating outstanding minority-owned businesses and community leaders who are strengthening the region’s economy.

Doors will open at 10:45 a.m. with a marketplace of local vendors and a brunch buffet. The honoree recognition program will begin at 11:45 a.m.

Presented in partnership with the Ohio Department of Development’s Minority Business Assistance Center, hosted at YBI, EmpowerUS is a mission-driven awards program created to celebrate the achievements of minority-owned businesses and the partners who support them.

EmpowerUS centers on recognition, community and impact. The event will bring together business owners, corporate leaders, nonprofit partners and community members to honor those shaping the region’s economic future.

The 2026 EmpowerUS honorees are:

  • Small Business Award: Rhonda Bowser, BCI Granite.
  • On the Rise Award: Jasmine Neal, Healing Hearts CPR.
  • Nonprofit Award: Angelica Diaz, OCCHA Inc.
  • Trailblazer Award: Jeff Green, Jazz in the Park.
  • Legacy Award: Ryan Gilchrist, Ryan’s Chair.
