YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown City School District recently announced the recipients of its 2025 Youngstown Honors Awards.
The awards are a celebration of dedication to students and education by teachers and staff.
“In addition to student achievement, one of the great measures of excellence in education lies in the dedication and passion of our educators,” said YCSD Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor. “At Youngstown Honors, we will honor and celebrate our outstanding employees who inspire, innovate and empower every day.”
Awards in several categories will recognize the district’s educators, staff and volunteers for their efforts in supporting students with educational opportunities and fostering an environment of excellence.
The awardees were nominated by their peers, YCSD families and community members. Here are this year’s award recipients:
- Administrator of the Year: Quiana Faison.
- Anthony DeNiro Distinguished Service Awards: Melissa Cooper, Vito Donofrio, Garrick Matlock, Michelle Mirich, Ramona Rivera, Kenyetta Whipple, Social Services Department.
- Athletic Coach of the Year: LaTalia Patterson.
- Deb DiFrancesco Principal of the Year: Monica Jones .
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Linda Murphy (posthumously).
- Newcomer Award – Staff: Ruben Gutierrez.
- Newcomer Award – Teacher: Gabriel Nuss.
- Superintendent’s Volunteer Service Award: Cedric Adams.
- Teacher of the Year: Saedah Hadi.
The awards will be presented during a gala from 5-9 p.m. May 8 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road. Tickets, which must be purchased by cash or check by April 4, are $50 and include a buffet dinner. For more information and to purchase tickets, click HERE.
