YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The YMCA of Youngstown opened new or upgraded facilities at each of its branches in 2024.
The organization “made strides in advancing its cause of fostering youth development, promoting healthy living and ensuring social responsibility,” says Beth Scheller, president and CEO.
A new athletic performance center opened at the Central Branch in downtown Youngstown, offering advanced equipment for strength, endurance and athletic training.
The spinning room was renovated and now has air conditioning, fresh paint and new flooring.
And the Central Branch deepened its community engagement through a partnership with Youngstown City Schools in which over 140 second graders received free swimming lessons.
The Davis Family Branch in Boardman set wellness and functionality as its priorities in its recent upgrades. The branch unveiled a training center for the enhancement of balance, strength and independence, and added new equipment to the weight room.
Significant upgrades were also made to the water filtration system for the pools at the Davis branch.
At Camp Fitch in North Springfield, Pa., outdoor education and environmental connection were highlights of 2024.
The newly constructed George A. Mitchell Pavilion became a hub for STEM learning, while the Rumberg Boathouse invited campers to explore wetlands and connect with nature.

The Glen Oaks Lodge underwent renovations that include accessible bathrooms.
