YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. has completed three duplexes on Glenwood Avenue that incorporate solar arrays mounted on rear carports, a design the organization says is the first of its kind in the city and likely the region.

Each array produces up to 15 kilowatts of electricity, allowing the all-electric units to generate more power than they consume and lowering utility costs for tenants.

The duplexes are part of YNDC’s ongoing redevelopment work along the Glenwood Avenue corridor, where the group has added new construction and acquired neglected properties for renovation.
