YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Yonder Brunch & Vibes restaurant will open this month at the corner of West Commerce and North Phelps streets, downtown.

It will be the second location for the Cleveland-based diner and will have the same menu, said Christian Jay, operations manager.

A soft opening will take place as soon as May 9, with a grand opening planned for an as-yet undetermined date.

Yonder Brunch & Vibes will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

The Youngstown location, in the former Kitchen Post restaurant location in the Erie Terminal Building, has a seating capacity of about 50, Jay said. It will also have a liquor license and offer cocktails and specialty drinks for diners. It will also offer specialty coffees.

The decision to come to Youngstown was an easy one, said Jay, who is a Cleveland native.

“We have a lot of people from Youngstown who migrate to Cleveland for the experience, and we said, ‘Why not just bring the restaurant [to them],’” he said.

The restaurant’s name is intended to evoke a place of warmth and happiness.

“When you think of the word yonder, you think of Southern cuisine, comfort food,” Jay said. “It’s a fun twist on comfort food.”

The menu will feature an upscale approach to comfort foods, including traditional diner items and soul food. Some specialties include oxtail dinner, fried chicken, fried catfish and smothered pork chops.

The brunch menu includes items such as chicken and waffles and the Yonder Bowl.

Jay said all of the menu items are scratch-made and equally delicious. “It would be hard to pinpoint one specialty,” he said.
