YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city will celebrate America’s semiquincentennial with an Ignite the Night Youngstown event July 5.

Ignite the Night Youngstown, presented by the Rotary Club of Youngstown, in partnership with the city, the Economic Action Group and Youngstown CityScape, is designed to bring residents and visitors together to mark the nation’s 250th birthday.

The event at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Wean Park will feature a fireworks display and a performance by the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.

“I am really thrilled to have the Youngstown Symphony perform such a wide variety of music at the Ignite the Night event,” said Erik Ochsner, YSO music director.

Organizers said in a news release that they expect the celebration to draw attendees from across the region and establish a new Independence Day tradition for the Mahoning Valley.

“The Rotary Club of Youngstown is thrilled to be the presenting sponsor of this event,” said Gerri Jenkins, club president. “It is a great opportunity to highlight the value of the Youngstown Symphony and CityScape – not only to Youngstown but to the entire county and region.”
