YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Historical Youngstown Ghost Tour will return Oct. 9 and 10 for its fourth year, bringing historical and theatrical presentations to sites throughout downtown Youngstown.
Tickets for the two-night event will go on sale at 11 a.m. Sept. 11. A portion of ticket fees will be donated to charity through ticketing partner Humanitix.
The tour combines local history, art and theatrical storytelling and is being presented by the city of Youngstown, The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown CityScape, the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Smarter Move Talent and Second Friday/Downtown Youngstown Partnership.
Participants will visit downtown landmarks and learn about people who played roles in Youngstown’s history.
“Each year, the Youngstown Ghost Tour grows not just in attendance, but in depth, showcasing prominent past leaders that shaped Youngstown, Ohio,” said Cindy Castro-DiRusso, producer of the Youngstown Ghost Tour and Smarter Move Talent and Studios.
The Oct. 9 tour will coincide with Second Friday, which will be held at The Butler Institute of American Art.
The Butler also will participate in the Ghost Tour, including a presentation about museum founder Joseph G. Butler.
“The Butler is honored to participate in this year’s Ghost Tour, highlighting the story of our founder, Joseph G. Butler,” said Kristen Llewellyn, communications and marketing manager at The Butler. “Events like this offer a unique opportunity to engage new audiences with the people, places and history that have shaped the Butler and our city.”
Meagan Albani of Youngstown CityScape said coordinating the events provides another opportunity to draw people downtown.
“Hosting our event at The Butler Institute of American Art on October 9, alongside the Ghost Tour, creates a spine-tingling, fun and interesting way for the community to come together and celebrate Youngstown’s creativity and heritage,” she said.
Tours will run from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9. On Oct. 10, tours will be offered from 2 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m.
