YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Megan Malara, executive director of the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Aerospace and Defense, discussed how the hub is supporting manufacturers, workforce development and technology commercialization across the Mahoning Valley.
Malara said the hub was created to strengthen the region’s manufacturing ecosystem by connecting businesses with resources, training opportunities and regional partners focused on advanced manufacturing growth.
The hub offers support for manufacturers looking to launch or expand operations, including access to incubation space, workforce upskilling programs and funding opportunities through partnerships with organizations such as YBI, America Makes and Lake to River Economic Development.
Malara also highlighted programs helping students earn certifications and hands-on manufacturing experience before entering the workforce, while additional initiatives assist businesses seeking to commercialize new technologies and modernize facilities with advanced manufacturing capabilities.
She also discussed the hub’s participation in a panel discussion during the YBI Advanced Manufacturing User Expo, where regional leaders and partners shared how collaboration is helping drive innovation and economic development throughout the area.
