YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Gary Morton and Fritz Coombs of the Youngstown Magic Club presented a historical overview of magic as a performing art in and around the Mahoning Valley during the October edition of Bites and Bits of History at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Tyler History Center.
The presentation covered a range of regional and national figures associated with the development of stage magic, including Howard Thurston of Columbus, Harry Kellar of Erie, Pa., and Charles Joseph Carter of New Castle, Pa.
The Youngstown Magic Club, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Magicians, will mark its 100th anniversary in 2026. Morton and Coombs noted plans for commemorative events and encouraged interest from potential new members.
