YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city is inviting businesses and organizations to participate in an event to educate the community, showcase local initiatives and connect businesses, nonprofits and public officials with those they serve.

The community development division of the city’s community planning and economic development department announced the National Community Development Day event Monday. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 24 at Covelli Center, Wean Foundation Park and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

The community event will feature food trucks; a bounce house and games for children; live music, dance performances and other entertainment; competitions and community resources; and vendor booths and networking opportunities.

Businesses, nonprofits, service providers and community organizations that are interested in engaging with the public are encouraged to participate. Participants must bring their own table, literature, signup sheets and giveaways. There is no cost to participate, and sponsorship opportunities are available.

The city encourages those interested in participating to confirm their attendance as soon as possible. For more information or to discuss sponsorship opportunities, contact Wendy Robinson at wrobinson@youngstownohio.gov or 330 742 8887.

The event will coincide with National Community Development Week, April 21-25, which is held during the congressional appropriations process to highlight the importance of Community Development Block Grants and HOME programs.
