YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Press Club is seeking applications for up to four $4,000 college scholarships it will award this year.
The awards will go to college sophomores, juniors or seniors living in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer or Lawrence counties, but students may be attending college elsewhere. Applicants must be majoring in journalism or a related field, including communication, broadcasting, marketing, advertising and public relations.
Applicants can provide examples of community involvement or current engagement in journalism or a related field and up to two letters of recommendation. Recipients should commit to attend the Youngstown Press Club’s Sept. 23 Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner at Stambaugh Auditorium.
An application form is available at YoungstownPressClub.com. The deadline to apply is April 1.
The club has awarded $20,000 in scholarships over the past three years. The scholarships are funded by direct donations and proceeds from club events.
