Youngstown Business & Professional Women Club Marks Centennial Oct. 20

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Business & Professional Women will celebrate its centennial Oct. 20 at The Lake Club.

The chapter was one of the first branches of the Ohio Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Club and has since grown into a leading organization for women looking to network and expand their business.

“Women have come a long way in terms of professional development and pay equity in the last 100 years,” says the club’s president, Rebecca Davis. “However, the fact that very few women lead Fortune 500 companies and that pay equity is still a real issue means our work needs to continue at the local and state levels, as well as nationally.”

Along with a dinner, the centennial celebration also serves as a fundraiser for the Youngstown Business & Professional Women’s Dr. Anne McMahon Scholarship, awarded annually to a female student at Youngstown State University. Proceeds from the dinner will also be used to establish a second scholarship.

Tickets are $55 each. They can be purchased by emailing treasurer Dee McFarland at

The group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month and supports women’s causes in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
