YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown State University Computer Club will present its 2026 hackathon, HackYSU, in March at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Stambaugh Stadium.

The event brings together aspiring minds from all backgrounds for a weekend-long event, giving them all the materials and resources required to start and complete a project of their choosing. This year’s theme is based on the Wild West and pioneering new and novel technology to innovate in new fields of technology, such as artificial intelligence or machine learning.

HackYSU will start at 5 p.m. March 13 with check-ins for registered attendees. The opening presentation from organizers, sponsors and others will take place at 6 p.m., and the time to work on a project will officially begin at 9 p.m. The hackathon will end at 9 a.m. March 15, and participants will present their projects in front of a panel of judges for prizes.

“HackYSU is a competition, but it’s also fun,” said Anthony Hake, president of the YSU Computer Club. “To see that game you’ve always wanted to make start to come together in front of you, demonstrating skills you didn’t even know you had, meeting strangers and becoming friends in the course of a weekend – that’s just the magic of it.”
