YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Paul McFadden, Youngstown State University Foundation president, and Heather Chunn, vice president of operations and human resources, describe the foundation’s ongoing role in supporting YSU students and programs.
McFadden says the foundation, created in 1966 by Howard Jones, former university president, continues to steward its endowment, provide scholarships and fund key projects, including the recent Kilcawley Center renovation. He notes that nearly half of YSU students receive foundation aid, supported by an endowment larger than those at several peer universities.
Chunn says the foundation manages about 1,300 funds, most of them scholarships, along with endowments for faculty, programs and student competitions.
Both leaders emphasize the foundation’s commitment to keeping higher education affordable and to sustaining strong community support throughout the Mahoning Valley.
