“As virtually every private and public sector increasingly relies on data analytics in their decision-making process, we hope that this workshop series will raise more awareness to the workforce in our community of the value of data analytics skills to the competitiveness in the job market,” said YSU economics professor AJ Sumell in a statement. “Our first workshop introduces audience of all backgrounds to what data analytics entails, from cleaning, manipulating and visualizing data to revealing patterns in data for actionable insight.”
Among the presenters at the workshop are fellow economics professors Ou Hu and Joseph Palardy, computer science professor Feng George Yu and mathematics and statistics professor G. Jay Kerns.
The workshop will cover job opportunities in the data analytics field, data management and analysis, storytelling through data and the use of predictive modeling such as data classification and handwriting recognition.
