YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown State University Bitonte College of Health and Human Services will host the Wellness Across the Lifespan Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Southern Park Mall.
The event will bring together community members and health care disciplines from YSU to promote health, fitness, wellness and preventative care. Activities will include interactive booths, educational talks, hands-on demonstrations and free resources for individuals and families.
Programming for adults will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include yoga, hands-only CPR training and free health screenings for blood pressure, fall risk and cognition. Guest speakers include Lauren Iagulli, program director, Public Health; Rebecca Riblet, assistant professor, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; Erin Shilling, assistant professor, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; and Morgan Bagley, program director, Master of Athletic Training.
Activities for children will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m., featuring an obstacle course, punt, pass and kick challenge, sport-specific stretching, cooking demonstrations, BMI charting, crafting and hands-only CPR.
Additional sessions will address topics such as childhood obesity, healthy food options, food safety, trauma and PTSD, suicide awareness and prevention, the impact of social media on youth mental health and concussion education.
