Coaches Burger Bar to Expand in Niles, Boardman

POLAND, Ohio – Coaches Burger Bar will open its first two franchise locations in the coming months.

The restaurants are under construction at 2 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles in the Pinetree Plaza and at 714 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman, according to a news release. The Niles location is expected to open in May, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for June 1. The Boardman location is expected to open sometime in June.

“My vision has always been to grow,” co-owner Patrick Howlett says. “I believe we’ll hire the right people to do the right things and do a good job.”

The restaurant, which opened in July 2015, also unveiled a new logo to mark the announcement of its franchise capabilities, and will brand itself as “Coaches: Burgers, Shakes, Wings and Fries.”

The restaurants will feature “fast and casual” dining, with a focus on delivery and takeout. Both locations will offer lunchtime delivery.

“The increase in demand for carryout and delivery is one of the hottest things right now,” Howlett says. “There will always be a place for a sit-down style restaurant, but the industry is all pushing toward fast and casual.”

Menus at the new restaurants will feature all of Coaches’ signature burgers and sandwiches, along with french fries, chicken wings, salads and non-alcoholic beverages, including its popular milkshakes. The half-pound patty will be replaced with two quarter-pound patties to make them easier to eat for diners on their lunch break, he said. The flagship restaurant in Poland will still serve a half-pound patty, as well as all current menu items.

Each new restaurant will seat up to 50, and will also create some 45 new jobs.

“We employ 22 at our restaurant in Poland, and we’re about to triple that with these new locations,” Howlett said. “Job creation is one of the main goals we’re trying to accomplish. I don’t think there’s anything better than giving a high school student his or her first job.”

Coaches will continue its Coach of the Month campaign, as well as its Burger of the Month, which will be carried through to the new restaurants and any future franchise locations. The new restaurants will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with delivery during lunchtime.
