W. Pa. Community Foundation Awards $2.7M in 2Q Grants
SHARON, Pa. – Through its six affiliate foundations, the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania & Eastern Ohio granted over $2.7 million toward local charitable causes throughout the Mahoning and Shenango valleys during the first half of 2017.
Additionally, the foundation received nearly 4,000 applications from local high school seniors for its 150 scholarships. When combined with recurring scholarships, the foundation will grant over $700,000 to recipients living in 10 counties throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Grants from funds within the foundation during second quarter ranged from $34 to $176,381.

- Inspiring Minds
- WaterFire Sharon
- American Red Cross – Lake to River Chapter
- Scottish Rite Cathedral
- Grove City YMCA
- Buhl Community Recreation Center
- New Castle Public Library
- Prince of Peace Center
- Keystone Blind Association
- HopeCAT
- West Hill Ministries
- Gussie M Walker Community Outreach Organization
- Penn Northwest Development Corp.
- Greenville Heritage Days
- Community Food Warehouse
- Meals on Wheels
- The Good Shepherd Center
- Community Counseling Center
- The United Way of Mercer County (Success by 6 program)
- Buhl Park Corp.
