Congressmen, Senators to Work with Chamber on Setting Priorities

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber today announced that members of Congress representing the region and the state have agreed to work together to “identify and advance the community’s legislative priorities on the federal level.”

The chamber says its “Valley Federal Delegation Working Group” consists of U.S. Reps. Tim Ryan, D-Howland, Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, whose district extends into southern Mahoning County, and David Joyce, R-Mentor, whose district extends into northern Trumbull County, as well as U.S. Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Rob Portman, R-Ohio.

Among issues identified as Valley priorities are increased workforce development, advancement at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station and increasing export opportunities for local industries, according to the chamber.

Earlier this year, the chamber announced the formation of its Valley State Delegation Working Group. State Reps. Sean O’Brien, D-Bazetta, Michael O’Brien, D-Warren, Ron Gerberry, D-Austintown, and Michele Lepore-Hagan, D-Youngstown, agreed to work together with the chamber on the Valley’s legislative priorities on the state level. State Sens. Capri Cafaro, D-Hubbard, and Joe Schiavoni, D-Austintown, and State Rep. Tim Ginter, R-Columbiana, are expected to join the state group, the chamber said.
