Forbes Rates Grove City a ‘Best Value College’
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Forbes magazine has ranked Grove City College 109th overall on its list of 300 “Best Value Colleges 2016,” the college announced Thursday.
The business publication ranked Grove City 35th best value in the country among liberal arts colleges, 54th in the Northeast and 76th among private colleges.
The rankings are based on the overall quality of the college or university, salaries alumni are earning, dropout and graduation rates and the skills alumni have acquired for the tuition and fees they paid. Quality of instruction and pay after graduation were the two factors weighted most heavily.
The rankings were designed to see which colleges and universities delivered “the most bang for the buck,” said Richard Vedder, director of the Center for College Affordability, whose staff worked with Forbes to determine where the colleges stand.
“The factors in the rankings take into account the answers to several questions on most parents’ minds,” Vedder said in a statement. “Will I be successful in getting through school in a timely meaner? Is it likely I will get a good job that pays well? And, of course, is it going to cost me a fortune to go there?”
Said Jacki Muller, senior director of marketing and communications at Grove City, “Grove City College is a great return on investment for its graduates and our students enjoy remarkable success, with a 97% placement rate six months after graduation.”
