The Innovators: Newcomer to Mercer County Gets Involved

As has become The Business Journal’s custom during the month of May, designated as National Small Business Month, we ask readers to tell us who is worthy of recognition. This time, we asked readers to nominate innovators – the risk takers, out-of-box thinkers and the status quo challengers.

Nick Pochiba
Wealth Advisor, Axias Wealth Advisors

HERMITAGE, Pa. – After settling in Mercer County, Pa., Nick Pochiba was immediately struck by the deep-rooted passion of the rural residents for their community. Despite his relatively short tenure of less than two years in Mercer County, he wasted no time in seeking out volunteer opportunities to contribute to his new home. Attending the Penn-Northwest Development Corp.’s Economic Summit, he discovered the challenge of population decline and concerted efforts to attract and retain local talent.

Nick Pochiba lends his expertise to numerous nonprofit organizations, all in support of community growth and the mission of talent retention in Mercer County. Whether volunteering for religious, child welfare, economic development, or health care institutions, Nick effectively uses his time to leave a lasting impact on the community.

With a focus on health care institutions, Nick and his team at Axias Wealth Advisors in Hermitage, Pa., also provide financially viable solutions that support workforce needs while also aiding institutions to better serve their community.

Nominated by Jake Rickert of Penn-Northwest Development Corp.
