WRAP Opens Shops on the Square

WARREN, Ohio – Space is available for small businesses in the new Shops on the Square, a cooperative sponsored by Warren Redevelopment and Planning Corp. at 124 N. Park Ave. on Courthouse Square.

The former radio station building was designed with multiple rooms used as offices which are being transformed into eight individual retail shops of between 80 and 168 square feet. Space is being rented for $100 to $200 per month.

Manda Bees Headbands, which sells non-slip headbands for women, will be the Shops’ first tenant. Space is available for up to seven more businesses on a first-come, first-served basis. Leases will be signed for three-month periods and tenants may combine to create terms of use for common space.

“This concept allows for people with a great product or idea to take a low-capital risk, while benefiting from the support and encouragement of peers. We are creating a setting where people can thrive,” Melissa Holmes, a consultant to WRAP, said.

Amanda Benchwick, owner of Manda Bees Headbands, began making the headbands on a whim, when she was unable to maintain her long hair while teaching a class.

“I went from being a yoga and pilates instructor to having seven employees,” she said. In addition to her successful online store, she wanted a physical presence downtown, where she recently relocated to integrate into the emerging arts scene.

Businesses including startups, artists and prepackaged food manufacturers are encouraged to consider using the space. For more information, call 330 841 2566.
