$1.3M Investment to Modernize WRTA Bus Fleet Facility

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced a $1.3 million investment to renovate the Western Reserve Transit Authority’s bus fleet facility. This funding aims to provide significant upgrades to the facility, which was built in the 1970s and 1980s.

The renovation will address several critical needs, including a new roof, door, door controls, and updated electrical, safety and HVAC systems. Additionally, the investment will modernize the fueling equipment to support pollution-free electric vehicles, according to Brown’s office.

This latest investment follows an initial federal funding allocation announced last year and is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Brown helped to draft and pass.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is getting resources to Ohio communities to improve transportation,” said Brown. “This will provide modern facilities and infrastructure for WRTA and better service for Ohioans riding the bus to work or school or a doctor’s appointment.”
