2 Valley Projects Receive Combined $700K from ODOT

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two local transportation projects are among those across the state that will receive funding through the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Gov. Mike DeWine and ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks on Thursday announced nearly $5 million in funding for 14 projects in 13 counties to support job growth and retention.

In Mahoning County, a $500,000 grant will be used for a project to upgrade the Mahoning Avenue industrial corridor in Jackson Township. Slated for 2027 construction, the project will include a roundabout, widening, intersection and draining improvements, along with a bridge replacement. The project that will impact multiple manufacturing and distribution companies in that area.

In Trumbull County, a $200,000 grant will be used to create detailed designs for a left turn lane and new traffic signal at the intersection of state Route 46 and Mines Road, in a congested area of Howland Township near the plaza containing Five Guys, Jimmy John’s and Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh.

“As Ohio’s economy continues to grow, our transportation system must keep pace,” DeWine said. “These projects will help create and retain jobs by ensuring that businesses can safely and efficiently carry out their work and transport products.”
