PITTSBURGH — F.N.B. Corp. again made tremendous strides in 2016, deepening its commitment to serving customers through advances in technology and expanding its footprint.

Its largest affiliate, First National Bank of Pennsylvania, founded in 1864, operates more than 300 banking offices in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia and expects to add another 100 in North and South Carolina pending completion of our merger with Yadkin Financial Corp., parent of Yadkin Bank.

Pro forma, that would increase F.N.B.’s assets to nearly $30 billion and allow it to become a premier regional bank throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.

To support its growth, F.N.B. announced it would expand its operational and technology functions with a new operations and customer service center in Pittsburgh, and expand its center in Hermitage, Pa.

The expansions build on two acquisitions F.N.B. completed in 2016, the first with Harrisburg-based Metro Bancorp, Inc., and the other with former offices of Fifth Third Bank in greater Pittsburgh.

During 2016, F.N.B. invested in technology enhancements to the retail delivery system. This included the introduction of a refreshed, modern branch designed to encourage consultative interaction, which can be seen in our new office in Hudson, Ohio.

And First National Bank rolled out of a cohort of new video teller machines and in-branch digital kiosks. At the kiosks, each deposit account is represented by a QR-code enabled box that links to brief videos on account features and technology. Or, a touchscreen allows customers to compare their accounts side-by-side or take a brief, self-guided digital tour so they can determine the checking account best-suited to their needs.

Our company launched FNB Business, a new mobile banking app for business clients, and upgrades to the F.N.B. Direct consumer mobile banking app. The new features contain security enhancements such as CardGuardSM, which provides customers with the ability to control use of their debit cards, and Touch ID. With the touch of a finger, Touch ID allows customers to log in to the FNB Direct mobile banking app.

Employees of F.N.B. are actively engaged in the communities where they live and work as reflected by the more than 20,000 hours they volunteered. Through volunteerism and financial support, F.N.B. supports organizations such as the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber, Youngstown CityScape, the Rich Center for Autism and the Oh Wow! Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science  & Technology next door to our office in downtown Youngstown.

In 2016, the bank received both national and regional honors for client satisfaction in small-business and middle-market banking from Greenwich Associates.
