5 YSU Business Students Named Beeghly Fellows

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Five students in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University have been named John D. Beeghly Fellows.

Fadi El Chammas, Jerry Dugan, Jessica Marando, Alex McFarland and Corey Patrick will work in the Ohio Small Business Development Center and the International Trade Assistance Center.

The five will conduct market research, study companies’ readiness to export, analyze companies’ cash flow and prepare financial statements.

“We are extremely grateful to the John D. Beeghly family for making this generous investment in our business students,” said Betty Jo Licata, dean of the Williamson College, in a prepared statement. “Providing our students with career-related experience contributes to the success of our regional businesses and the professional preparation of our students.”

El Chammas, of Poland and an international business major, is an intern at the centers.

Dugan, of McDonald, is an accounting major and worked with Novogradac & Co. as a tax/audit intern. He is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, mentoring freshman majoring in business, and teaches classes on economics on behalf of Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley at elementary schools.

Maranado is a marketing management major from Hubbard who worked as an intern for social media and brand development at Vapor Stockroom. There she launched and promoted three new product lines as well as several in-house products.

McFarland, a business-economics major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, recently finished an internship as a payroll associate at Future Systems Inc. and is completing her second semester as an economics tutor in the YSU Center for Student Progress.

Patrick, from Struthers, is a double major in finance and marketing who worked as a financial adviser intern for Edward Jones Investments. He is the president of YSU Enactus and a representative from the Williamson College on the Student Government Association.

The Beeghly Fellows program is part of an endowment at the YSU Foundation by Beeghly family to honor John D. Beeghly. From 1967 to 2005, he was vice president and a director of Standard Slag Co. and Stancorp Inc.
