7 Local Farmers Markets Unite in New Network

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A group of local  markets have joined together to launch the Mahoning Valley Farmers Market Network to better promote their efforts and build a more sustainable food system.

The network is coordinated by Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers Market Promotion Program.

“By working together, we’re able to undertake some initiatives none of us could do as effectively on our own,” said Cassandra Clevenger, community resource coordinator for Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, in a statement. “Our goal is to make sure we can continue to bring Valley shoppers what they like most about farmers markets: fresh, healthy, local food at a great value.”

Participating in the Mahoning Valley Farmers Market Network are Northside Farmers Market, Youngstown ACTION and Flying High’s pop-up markets, Warren Farmers Market, Hubbard Farmers Market, Howland Farmers Market, Niles Artisan Farmer’s Market and Austintown Farmers Market.

A schedule for all markets – as well as more information on the markets, classes and meetings – is available at MVFMarkets.com.

The network will launch a TV commercial this month, which will air through September on WFMJ.
