9,401 Entities File to Do Business in February

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Some 9,401 new entities filed to do business in Ohio during February, the office of Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday, noting that the figure 1,483 higher than the number of business filed in February 2015 when 7,918 entities submitted their paperwork.

Husted said based in the number of filings in the first two months, this year is on track to set another record.

January’s business filings were 14.9% above the number for January 2015.

The trend has continued into February and business filings in 2016 are 16.8% ahead of the first two months of 2015, that is, 2,602 more entities to date.

New business filings are classified on forms filed with the office of Ohio Secretary of State that declare the formation of a business entity: for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships.

Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs, Husted noted.
