Clothes Mentor Opens Women’s Store in Howland
WARREN, Ohio — Clothes Mentor, a store for women who wear designer fashion brands in sizes 0 to 26, has opened its first area store in the region at 8230 E. Market St., Howland Township.
The 4,000 square-foot space offers women’s apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories for as much as 70% below mall prices, owners Johnna Shrum and Heather Hannan say.
In a prepared statement, Hannan of Warren said, “Women are increasingly becoming more budget conscious when they shop, especially for fashion. [There is a] niche for a resale store in the area for women of all sizes to find smart, stylish clothes on a budget.”
Clothes Mentor Howland is part of a national franchise that buys and resells “better brand-name, gently worn items that are in style and in good condition,” Shrum says. Unlike consignment stores, she explains, Clothes Mentor buys clothing outright from women who want to sell their clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories.
Clothes Mentor has more than 130 stores nationwide in 29 states, including 12 stores in the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo areas. The Howland store is the first to open in the Mahoning Valley.
Since October, Clothes Mentor Howland has been paying cash to women for their little worn attire in preparation for the store’s grand opening, Hannan said.
