Moreira Leaving Shenango Chamber to Join OhanaLink
SHARON, Pa. – Sherris Moreira, executive director of the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce, will be leaving the organization at the end of the month to join tech startup OhanaLink Technologies as director of business development.
“Though I did not come to this decision lightly, I did not come to it for any negative reason – just that it is time for me to go toward a new opportunity. I am proud of the work I have done with all of you and am working to make sure everything is in order to transition to a new leader of the chamber,” she said in an email Tuesday morning. “I will work closely with our chamber board to make sure they have every detail for a smooth transition. It is very personally and professionally important to me that the chamber continue to thrive and grow and support our leaders and municipalities.”
She could not be reached for comment Tuesday morning.
Moreira has been director of the Shenango Valley Chamber for four years. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded to nearly 400 members – the largest in western Pennsylvania between Erie and Pittsburgh – and launched the Rising Rust Belt Summit and Shenango Valley Chamber Charitable Foundation.
“I’m so thankful for the good things this time with the chamber has brought to me and the opportunity to work with all of you doing good work together,” she continued. “I will only ever have wonderful things to say about the good work we have done together.”
In her new role, Moreira will help the continued expansion of OhanaLink, which plans to double – potentially triple – its staff from the current 13. Since June, the company, based in Hermitage, has launched OhanaLink Health, OhanaLink Baby and OhanaLink Health Kids. The apps are designed to offer secure communication channels between family members during health crises, allowing for information and updates to be easily shared. The apps also include health resources.
“I am very excited to be able to continue to recruit high level talent as our business expands,” said founder and CEO Kara Wasser in a statement. “With Sherris’ level of experience and connections, we believe she is the right person to head up our business development efforts and help to take our company to the next level.”
The company is currently working on an employer-sponsored subscription product, OhanaLink at Work.
“The vision is to use my own personal experience and knowledge that I have gained while building OhanaLink Technologies to help other entrepreneurs. It’s something I’ve had as a goal when I started my company,” Wasser said.
