Coviello Named New President of Regional Chamber
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber has named Guy Coviello as its new president and CEO, effective March 1.
Coviello replaces Tom Humphries, who returned to the role in late 2019 following his retirement in 2017.
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead the organization forward, and I am confident that by working together with other leaders at the local, regional and state level, we can accelerate the growth and expansion that our region is very capable of achieving,” Coviello said in a statement. “I also consider myself very fortunate to inherit an enthusiastic and dedicated chamber staff and a committed board of directors.”
Coviello joined the Regional Chamber in 2014 as vice president of government affairs and was most recently president of the Regional Chamber Foundation. Before coming to the chamber, he worked in editorial positions at the Warren Tribune Chronicle for nearly 30 years.
While at the chamber, Coviello was key in developing the Columbus Drive-In and Washington Fly-In events, took part in the Ohio Chamber of Commerce’s “Ohio Bold: A Blueprint for Accelerating the Innovation Economy” project and was on Campaign for America’s Energy Ohio Steering Committee.
Those experiences, said board chairman Michael Schrock, gave Coviello tools needed to lead the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
“Guy expressed a clear vision of how he would embrace collaboration and enhance relationships with local, regional and state organizations such as JobsOhio, TeamNEO and many others,” Schrock said.
The search for a new leader began in September when Humphries said he would let his one-year contract to serve as “transitional CEO” expire.
“We cannot thank Tom enough for his strong and decisive leadership throughout 2020,” said Don Kline, board chairman through the end of 2020. “He positioned the organization as well as possible during a very disruptive year due to the pandemic. I would also like to congratulate Guy Coviello as he steps in to lead the organization well into the future.”
