Warren Library Awards Contract for $4.7M Expansion
WARREN, Ohio – A $4.7 million contract for an addition and renovation project at the Warren Library has been awarded to VendRick Construction of Brookfield.
Construction is slated to begin in early spring and will take 18 to 24 months, according to a statement from the library’s board of trustees.
Baker Bednar Snyder & Associates Inc., Howland, is the architect for the project.
Plans for the 14,800-square-foot addition were announced last year but the project was delayed because of the pandemic.
The one-story addition on the building’s south side will increase the library’s size by about 25% to about 72,000 square feet. Most of the new space will enable the children’s department and teen area to expand programming and resources, according to library director Jim Wilkins.
The project also includes renovations to existing sections of the building at 444 Mahoning Ave. to support technology services and increase the number of meeting rooms to 11.
