Healthy Community Partnership Releases ‘Year in Review’
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Healthy Community Partnership – Mahoning Valley has released its 2020 Year in Review and highlights video, putting a spotlight on the challenges and successes experienced last year.
The Year in Review, which can be found HERE, includes members’ reflections about how they were impacted by, and responded to, the COVID-19 pandemic.
“What Changed in 2020?” is the question woven throughout the report, which focuses some of the partnership’s initiatives.
Members secured nearly $5 million in state and federal funds to support projects in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Multiple partners collaborated to provide over 11,000 meals and 3,500 boxes of fresh produce for seniors and individuals vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus; county food access coordinators got stores to offer fresh produce; and efforts were launched to improve parks and greenspaces.
With the support of a new AmeriCorps VISTA member, Robin Perry, the partnership launched a digital bulletin board and Story Bank Database. These resources allow partnership members to more efficiently share information with each other and the community.
The Story Bank Database reports residents’ experiences regarding barriers and solutions to living healthier lives. It will be used to evaluate the efficacy of partnership projects and policies.
The partnership welcomed the Mercy Health Foundation as a new funding partner in 2020. It was also selected to be one of 14 coalitions participating in a national leadership program, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health.
