Racino Reports Second-Highest Month for VLT Wagers
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Video lottery terminal wagers at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in April totaled $152.3 million, a slight dip from March’s record $153.2 million, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported Friday.
April VLT wagers last month were the second highest at the Austintown Township racino since it opened in September 2014. The record numbers were a stark contrast to the numbers in April 2020, when the racino was shuttered by state order because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Statewide, VLT wagers in April totaled $1.3 billion.
Patrons at the Austintown racino wagering on VLTs took home $135.5 million in winnings last month, down modestly from the $136.2 million they won in March.
Net win – the amount left from credits played minus credits won and promotional play credits – was just under $15.1 million. Out of that, Penn National Gaming Inc. – the Pennsylvania company that operates the racino – received $9.96 million, down from $10.1 million in March.
The lottery commission’s share was $5 million.
