Ohio New Business Filings Cross 20,000 for 1st Time in April
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The state once again shattered its monthly record for new businesses in April, with 22,176 filings. It’s the first time in Ohio history that more than 20,000 filings have been recorded.
The previous record was 19,694, set in March.
New business filings were 93.7% higher than in April 2020.
The state has broken its record for monthly new business filings every month this year.
“At the beginning of the pandemic, many expected that new business filings would drop significantly,” said Secretary of State Frank LaRose, in a state. “Who would be so bold, so courageous to start a business amid all of this uncertainty? The answer is that Ohio entrepreneurs are bold and courageous and despite these significant headwinds, Ohio continues to shatter monthly and yearly business filings records as more and more Ohioans look to create a new business.”
In 2020, there were 171,073 new business filings in Ohio, beating the previous record of 130,621, set in 2019.
