Outdoor Wellness Market on Hillman Ave. Sunday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – As part of the Mahoning Valley Community Store initiative, Gene’s Fresh Food Market and Sophia Buggs will host the Outdoor Wellness Market Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Vendors at the market, held at 2304 Hillman St., will include Gene’s, Her Primitive Ways apothecary, Perfectly Imperfect Produce, OptiGo Mobile Vision, Prepped Wellness, Fresh to Deaf and Homage Books and More. 

Activities available include seed distribution from Buggs’ Lady Buggs Farm, line dancing with DJ Reese, CycWard Bike Club and Auntie Pam’s Children’s Corner. 

The community store initiative is part of the Healthy Community Partnership Mahoning Valley’s effort to help convenience stores to stock fresh produce. The effort is led by food access coordinators in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Buggs leads the Mahoning County program, while the Trumbull effort is headed by Christian Bennett.

Access to healthful foods is one of the three pillars Healthy Community Partnership focuses on to improve long-term health equity, alongside active transportation and greenspaces.
