Grove City College’s McNulty “Influential in Business Ethics’
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty is among the “100 Most Influential in Business Ethics” as ranked by Ethisphere magazine.
McNulty, a former deputy U.S. attorney general and one of the nation’s top compliance counselor, was ranked 24 in the category of thought leadership. Since 2007, Ethisphere has compiled the business ethics recognition from nominees across academia, business, government, philanthropy, media and nongovernmental organizations.
The list also includes Pope Francis, former Vice President Al Gore, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, investor Warren Buffet, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Blackrock Chairman Laurence Fink and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. Deputy U.S. Attorney General Sally Quillan Yates, who holds McNulty’s former position, tops the 2015 list, which was released last month.
McNulty landed on last year’s Ethisphere list of “100 Most Influential in Business Ethics” and was selected as the singular recipient of the magazine’s “Hall of Fame” designation in its 2014 “Attorneys Who Matter” rankings.
Before accepting the presidency at Grove City College in 2014, McNulty was a partner in the global law firm of Baker & McKenzie. He remains of counsel with the firm, where he organized and led the global corporate compliance and investigations practice.
As deputy attorney general, he chaired President George W. Bush’s Corporate Fraud Task Force, successfully argued a police conduct case before the U.S. Supreme Court, organized the U.S. rule of law efforts in Iraq and authored the so-called “McNulty Memo,” which served as a milestone statement on the federal prosecution of business organizations.
McNulty’s career includes 11 years as a senior lawyer on Capitol Hill where he served as counsel for the House Ethics Committee, the chief counsel and director of legislative pperations for the majority leader of the House of Representatives, and chief counsel for the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime.
