Sharon Regional Earns Cardiology Award
SHARON, Pa. – Sharon Regional Medical Center has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – Myocardial Infarcation Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2021. It is one of only 132 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.
The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that the hospital has reached its goal of treating these patients to levels of care outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association.
To receive the award, Sharon Regional has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain –̶ MI Registry for four consecutive quarters during 2020 and performed with distinction in specific performance measures, according to a press release.
“As a Silver Performance Award recipient, Sharon Regional has established itself as a leader in setting the national standard for improving quality of care in patients with acute myocardial infarction,” said Dr. Michael C. Kontos, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, and cardiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. “[It] has demonstrated a commitment to providing reliable, comprehensive treatment for heart attack patients.”
Bob Rogalski, president of Sharon Regional, said receiving the award “is a testament to our continued commitment of providing exemplary care to patients. The community doesn’t have to travel far for world class cardiac care.”
