YSU Math Students Show Research at Women’s Forum
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Six Youngstown State University students recently presented their research at the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics.
The students and their research were:
- Monica Busser of Hubbard, Unique Hamiltonicity and Computational Algebraic Geometry.
- Sheri Cope of Boardman, The Fifteen Schoolgirl Problem.
- Emily Hoopes of Champion, Developing an Educational Sudoku Solver.
- Crystal Mackey of Bristolville, Numerical Results for the IVP to the Burgers Equation with External Forces.
- Ashley Orr of Columbiana, A Study of Youngstown Public Housing Program Participants’ Preferences.
- Gabrielle VanScoy of Lisbon, A Bone Eat Bone World: Math Models of Bone Metabolism.
“I have been going to conferences with YSU students since I started here in 2001, and I can honestly say that I have never been with such a better group overall,” said Angela Spalsbury, professor and chairwoman of the YSU department of mathematics and statistics. “Their presentations were extremely impressive and made me very proud to be from YSU.”
