Kravitz Poland Deli Reopens for Fat Tuesday

POLAND, Ohio – Kravitz of Poland, after being closed for several weeks, will reopen tomorrow for Fat Tuesday. The restaurant, inside the Poland Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, has been closed for “renovation, redecoration and innovation,” according to the company’s announcement.

“Our Poland and surrounding area patrons will be pleased with the facility’s refreshing face lift as well as the new appearance of our merchandising, menu and family dining initiative,” says Jack Kravitz, owner of the original Kravitz Delicatessen in Liberty Township and the Poland deli.

The grand opening will begin at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow with the celebration of Polish Fat Tuesday. The day will feature packzi (Polish doughnuts), live Polish music, Polish heritage events and lots of Polish foods. The celebration will continue through the week with a fish fry on Wednesday, corned beef specials on Thursday and the traditional fish fry on Friday.

“We’re initiating a new family take out dining program, dubbed ‘Take Us Home for Dinner.’”  Take home dinners have become a popular alternative for families on the go and the initiative will feature stuffed cabbage, hand-breaded chicken tenders, homemade pierogi, and a special Angus burger menu. This is in addition to its fish fry every Friday which includes halushki and pierogi.

The new menu also features five homemade soups daily as well as an expanded salad menu.

In addition, the deli will expand its onsite and offsite catering capabilities, Kravitz says. The deli is the exclusive caterer for the Poland branch library and is authorized to cater at most of the Mahoning County library community rooms as well as at Stambaugh Auditorium and the Tyler Historical Center. More catering innovations will be announced within the next several months, Kravitz says.
