Habitat for Humanity Plans Struthers ‘Blitz Build’
STRUTHERS, Ohio – With help from the Habitat Road Trip Crazies, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley will build a home in Struthers over two days in late April as part of the Build Blitz program.
A group with members from a dozen states, the Road Trip Crazies will work with local volunteers to build a house at 58 Ridge Way Drive for the DiPaola family. Over the course of a weekend, April 23 and 24, workers will build a completely finished house, “from raising walls to roofing to siding to landscaping and everything in between,” said Habitat for Humanity director Monica Craven in a release.
The Road Trip Crazies are led by Butler, Pa., native Tom Gerdy, who now operates a construction company in Lynchburg, Va. Along with Gerdy, the Crazies plan, organize and direct the project.
Volunteers for the project can register at www.HabitatMahoning.org/volunteer/construction or call the Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley office at 330 743 7244. No experience is required and professional instruction will be given on-site.
