More Houses Sold in January than Year Ago
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Sales of single-family houses in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were up 12.2% in January compared to a year earlier, the latest monthly report shows.
A total of 321 units were sold last month, up from 286 in January although down from December’s 454, according to data provided to the Centralized Real Estate Information Services Multiple Listing Service.
The Youngstown/Columbiana Association of Realtors provides the home sales information for Mahoning and Columbiana counties to CRIS-MLS, while the Warren Area Board of Realtors provides the information for Trumbull County. CRIS-MLS compiles the information for the nine-county region that includes the three counties.
Both Mahoning and Trumbull counties last month saw unit sales increase over the year, while Columbiana sales stayed consistent. In Mahoning County, 145 houses were sold last month, up from 125 in January 2014. In Trumbull County, 125 houses were sold in January, up from 110 a year earlier. For Columbiana County, the same number of houses was sold in both months, 51.
In December 2014, 226 houses were sold in Mahoning County, 163 in Trumbull County and 65 in Columbiana County.
Average selling prices increased last month from reported a year earlier in both Columbiana and Trumbull counties, but declined in Mahoning County. In Columbiana County, the average sale price during January was $99,468, up from $93,964 a year earlier. In Columbiana County, the average selling price last month was $82,400, up from $80,572. In Mahoning County, the average selling price in January was $91,387, down from January 2014’s $92,617.
In December 2014, the average selling price was $108,687 in Columbiana County, $103,126 in Mahoning County and $81,254 in Trumbull County.
