HD Davis, DiRusso’s Sausage Eating Contest Benefits Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — As part of this year’s YOlympics event, the annual DiRusso’s sausage eating contest will benefit the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation.
Proceeds from the contest will contribute to HD Davis’ HD Change Campaign, which the company created in 2019 to support and give back to the community where its employees live and work. Funds raised will be donated to the Canfield-based Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research.
The foundation is named for 4-year-old Melina Michelle Edenfield, who died of Difuse Midline Glioma (DMG) one year ago at the age of four.
The sausage eating contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Southern Park Mall outside the Youngstown Clothing Co. storefront. Though teams have already registered to compete, any individual can pay $5 per person for a chance to be selected as a contestant.
Residents can also support the cause by participating in the silent auction that will be held at the event.
Other YOlympics activities have included archery, three-legged races and bocce, and will continue through mid-November.
