Aerodynamics to Announce Service to Start in May
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Officials with Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and Aerodynamics Inc. have set a March 24 news conference to officially announce daily non-stop air service between the Vienna Township airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Service will begin that month, according to the announcement emailed by Dan Dickten, director of aviation at the airport. The flights will connect the Mahoning Valley to more than 130 one-stop domestic and international destinations served by American Airlines and United Airlines that can be booked seamlessly from the Youngstown-Warren airport, he said.
Ticket costs will be similar to what is offered at other airports, Dickten said.
The flights represent the first daily scheduled service at the airport since the last daily service carrier, Northwest Airlines service to Detroit, ceased operating from the airport in 2002.
Allegiant Air, a low-frequency leisure airline has operated at the airport since 2006 and now provides service to Orlando, St. Petersburg-Clearwater, and Punta Gorda (Ft. Meyers) in Florida and to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
“The success of Allegiant Air service at YNG proves that the airport and the community can once again support and sustain daily airline service,” Dickten said.
“Local travelers will no longer need to endure the long drive to other airports for their air travel needs. Other benefits will be less hassle, convenience, cheap parking and no waste of time and gas on the road,” Dickten said.
