Community Foundation Accepting Applications for Jean Rider Scholarship
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is accepting applications for the Jean Rider Scholarship. Three $1000 scholarships, funded by the Diabetes Partnership of the Mahoning Valley, will be presented to graduating seniors in the area who have Type 1 diabetes.
Jean Rider has been diabetic for 59 years and is a member of the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association, where she helped create support groups, education programs and blood testing locations. She was also the first Ohioan to wear an insulin pump and became a certified pump instructor in 1992.
The deadline to apply is April 11. Applications, as well as guidelines for the scholarship, are available on the Community Foundation’s website, cfmv.org, and can be mailed to its office, 201 E. Commerce Street, or emailed to [email protected].
